WEBSTER, NY – Alfred University holds a slim lead over Hartwick College and Nazareth College after day one of the 2023 Empire 8 Men’s Swimming and Diving Championship, held in conjunction with the Allegheny Empire Championships at the Webster Aquatic Center on Wednesday, February 15.
The Saxons have 118 team points to hold a slim lead over Hartwick College, who scored 106 points on opening night and Nazareth College, who has 98. Utica University is fourth overall with 62 points.
Alfred’s 200-yard medley relay team of Will Lamastus, Emiliano Terrazas, Fernando Lagos and Colby Watkins won by just under two seconds over Hartwick in a time of 1:36.22. Nazareth’s 800-yard medley relay team of Cameron Fairley, Kai D'Alessandro, Dylan Long, and Ryan Hough won the E8 title by just under two seconds in 7:06.09.
