Hartwick College juniors Mikey Schultz and Jack Armstrong swept Empire 8 Championship individual honors, at the Empire 8 Swimming and Diving Championships were held in conjunction with the Allegheny Empire Championships from Webster Aquatic Center from February 15-18.
Schultz was named the Empire 8 Swimmer of the Championship Meet for the second consecutive season. He won both the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:53.63 on Feb. 16 and took the 200-yard butterfly on Feb. 18, hitting the wall first in a time of 1:51.00. Schultz was also second in the 100-yard butterfly and helped Hartwick to second place finishes in the 200-yard medley relay and 800-yard freestyle relay, in addition to third place finishes in the 400-yard medley and 400-yard freestyle relays.
Armstrong garnered Empire 8 Diver of the Championship Meet accolades. On Feb. 16, Armstrong opened the week by winning the E8 Championship in the 3-meter diving event with a score of 428.85. He completed the E8 sweep in the 1-meter event two days later, recording an impressive score of 454.20.
The Empire 8 Swimmer, Diver and Coach of the Year will be announced in March, along with the All-Conference teams.
