BUFFALO, NY - The No. 20 St. John Fisher University women's lacrosse team rolled to a big early lead and cruised to a 19-2 victory over Medaille University on Wednesday afternoon. Fisher now holds a 13-2 overall record and is 6-0 in conference play, clinching the regular season title and No. 1 seed in the upcoming conference tournament.
Two minutes into the game, Sydney Carpenter found Hanna Kumpf for her first of the night and the first goal of the match up. From there, the Cardinals kept coming, rolling to a 10-0 lead after one quarter and a 13-0 edge at halftime.
Kumpf ended the day with five goals, two ground balls and one draw control to lead the offensive. Carpenter finished with two goals and four assists for six points. She added one ground ball, one caused turnover and 10 draw controls. Courtney O'Dea finished with two goals, three assists for five points. Mary Fiorentino and Dharma Makarowsky added three goals apiece, while Kaley Griffin tallied twice and Farrah Zalla and Emma Biel also scored.
The Cardinals held a 37-7 edge in shots for the contest.
Up next for the Cardinals, the team will travel to Oneonta, NY on Saturday, April 29 and compete in their last regular season game against Hartwick College. The Empire 8 match up is set to start at 12:30 p.m.
