"Kevin played great and shot well," Head Coach

Matson set the tone for Alfred University early in the first quarter, scoring each of the team's first three goals. Additional goals from
Dawson Felenchak (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) and Loewke had the Saxons ahead 5-0. The Gators found the back of the net twice in the first quarter, but two more goals from Matson across the last two minutes of the quarter had Alfred University leading 7-2.
Matson carried his momentum into the second quarter, scoring once again to give the Saxons some breathing room.
Marcus Darminio (Marcellus, NY/Marcellus) scored his first goal of the afternoon less than a minute later for AU. Goals from Forte, Loewke and
Josh Hauman (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder) closed out the first half for the Saxons, as they entered halftime with a 13-2 lead.
Forte scored for Alfred University in the early stages of the third quarter during a man-up situation. Keuka found the back of the net once in the quarter, but Matson and Loewke continued to put together impressive performances, combining for four goals.
Brendan Riley (Fairport, NY/Fairport) and
Justin Mosher (Hilton, NY/Hilton) each scored for the Saxons, as the team entered the fourth quarter with a 21-3 advantage.
Nick Volpe (Corning, NY/Corning-Painted Post) was the first to score for Alfred University in the fourth quarter, finding the back of the net during a man-down situation. The Gators scored twice, but
Connor DiDomineck (Bath, NY/Haverling) answered with a goal of his own. Two goals from Loewke were followed by
Hunter Cupp (Bath, NY/Haverling) scoring his first goal of the afternoon. Keuka was limited to just two more goals, as the Saxons relied on scoring opportunities for Loewke,
Shane Cubala (River Vale, NJ/Pascack Valley) and
Peter Colburn (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford) to close out the game.
"We are gearing up for another conference game on Friday," Lockner said. "We use each game to build off of to get better every time we step on the field. We identify something different and the guys work hard to get it right. This was a great team effort today.
Benjamin Cunningham played great on the opponent's top player. We are starting to get a lot of guys healthy at the right time as well."
Alfred University will next host Nazareth College on Friday as part of their Saxon-for-Saxon event at 4:30 PM.
