Eric Miccio Named SUNY Poly Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach

UTICA, NY – SUNY Poly Director of Athletics John Czarnecki is thrilled to announce the hiring of Eric Miccio as the new Men's Lacrosse Head Coach.

Miccio arrives from SUNY Oswego, where he served as an Assistant Lacrosse Coach. Miccio was previously the Head Men's Lacrosse Coach at Onondaga Community College, where he guided the team to NJCAA National Championship in 2019 and NJCAA Quarterfinals in 2022. Onondaga also secured the Region III Championship in 2019 and 2022. 

"Eric embodies the spirit of leadership and dedication that we value in our coaching staff," said SUNY Poly Athletic Director John Czarnecki. "His proven track record of success, along with his commitment to athlete development, makes him the perfect fit for our program. We're excited to see the positive impact he will have on our players." 

Miccio's coaching accolades include the NJCAA Region III Coach of the Year in 2018 at Mercyhurst North East University and in 2022 at Onondaga Community College. In 2019 he was the NJCAA National Coach of The Year. He has mentored numerous All-Americans and Academic All-Americans, showcasing his dual focus on athletic performance and academic achievement. 

"I would like to thank Athletic Director John Czarnecki and the rest of the search committee for believing in me and selecting me to lead the men's lacrosse program at SUNY POLY," said Miccio. "My goal is to celebrate and build on the traditions and foundation that already exists here at SUNY Poly, while also preparing our men's lacrosse program for a new chapter in the Empire 8." 

A two-time NJCAA National Champion as a player, Miccio also served as team captain during his collegiate career and holds a B.S. in Human Resource Management from the State University of New York at Oswego and an A.S. in Humanities from the State University of New York at Onondaga.
