WEBSTER, NY – Hartwick College holds a slim lead over Alfred University and Nazareth University after day one of the 2024 Empire 8 Men’s Swimming and Diving Championship, held in conjunction with the Allegheny Empire Championships at the Webster Aquatic Center on Wednesday, February 14.
The Hawks have 163 team points to hold a slim lead over defending championship Alfred University, who scored 158 points on opening night and Nazareth University, who has 98.
Alfred’s 200-yard medley relay team of Will Lamastus, Wade Lamastus, Colby Watkins, and Emmanuel Drapatz won by just under two seconds ahead of Hartwick in a time of 1:33.92. Jack Armstrong of Hartwick claimed his second straight Empire 8 title in the 3-meter diving event with a score of 494.30. Hartwick’s 800-yard medley relay team of Bryce Rogers, Nic Tirrell, Cameron Drake and Mikey Schultz won the E8 title by five seconds in 6:59.19.
