Five Empire 8 Women’s Standouts Earn 2023 USTFCCCA Individual All-Academic Team Selections

Empire 8 Champion Noelle Linenfelser of Houghton University, Ella Impaglia and Lilianna Hanning of Nazareth University and the St. John Fisher University duo of Riley Jameson and Brigid McGee earned 2023 NCAA Division III All-Academic Individual honors, announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
 
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 percent of their respective regional championship meet.

Linenfelser, a native of Grand Island, NY, enjoyed a tremendous sophomore season for the Highlanders in 2023. The 2022 Empire 8 Rookie of the Year, Linenfelser excelled in 2023, winning the Empire 8 Championship on Oct. 28 in a league championship record time of 21:38.8 over 6,000-meters. In addition, she was also the top finisher among all Empire 8 runners at the NCAA Atlantic Region Championship hosted by Houghton on Nov. 11, placing 21st overall, garnering All-Region honors. A biomedical sciences major, Linenfelser recorded three top-10 finishes during the season and was a four-time Empire 8 Runner of the Week in 2023.
 
Hanning, a biomedical sciences major, garnered her second straight All-Academic honor. She earned All-Empire 8 first team honors for the second time in 2023 after finishing fifth at the league championship meet in a personal best time of 22:06.8 over the 6,000-meter course. A native of Rochester, NY, Hanning excelled at the NCAA Division III Niagara Region Cross Country Championship, placing 24th overall to earn All-Region accolades for the second consecutive year.
 
Impaglia, a native of Gouverneur, NY, finished fourth at the 2023 Empire 8 Cross Country Championship to earn her second straight All-E8 honor during her sophomore season. A psychology major, Impaglia also placed 28th at the Division III Niagara Region Cross Country Championship to earn All-Region accolades.

Jameson, a nursing major who hails from Saratoga Springs, NY, garnered All-Empire 8 first team honors fin 2023 after finishing third at the league championship meet in a career-best time of 21:53.1 over the 6,000-meter course. She also earned All-Atlantic Region honors after placing 26th overall at the regional championship.
 
McGee, a native of Hamburg, NY, won the Empire 8 Women's Cross Country Torchbearer Award for academic excellence for the third straight year. The education major finished ninth overall at the Empire 8 Championship on Oct. 28 in a career-best time of 22:24.0 over 6,000-meters to earn All-E8 second team accolades for the second straight season. She was also an All-Region selection two weeks later, placing 33rd overall.
