ROCHESTER, NY – Senior Quinn McKercher scored four goals and finished with seven points to lead the Nazareth University Men's Lacrosse team to a convincing 21-8 victory over SUNY Brockport Wednesday afternoon on the NLPA Turf Field. With his fourth point of the day late in the first half, McKercher became just the seventh player in school history and the first since 2016 to eclipse the 200 career-point milestone.
With his seven points Wednesday, the Lake Mary, Florida native has 203 points with 132 goals and 71 assists. He is currently seventh on the all-time goals list and ninth on the all-time assists list at Nazareth.
Nazareth (4-3) opened the game quickly as junior Jacob Denkenberger won the opening face-off and raced in for the goal just nine seconds into the contest.
Sophomores Matthew Farrington and Kyle Rosenberger scored back-to-back goals in a span of 55 seconds to boost the lead to 3-0 and Farrington added his second goal a minute later for an early 4-0 Nazareth lead.
Brockport (1-4) scored at 8:57 but the Golden Flyers rattled off the next five goals as junior Brendan Regan, sophomores Louis Cogliandro, William O'Neill and William Meagher and McKercher each scored as Nazareth took a 9-1 lead midway through the second quarter.
Brockport scored a pair of goals to stop the run by McKercher scored with 1:23 left in the first half for his milestone point and Rosenberger added two more goals before the end of the period to give Nazareth a 12-4 lead at halftime.
In the third quarter, Rosenberger added his fourth goal of the game and Farrington scored another with a man-up goal to help Nazareth build a 10-goal lead at 14-4.
The teams traded goals with McKercher scoring twice, while senior Quinn Conroy and junior Sean O'Brian each scored for an 18-7 lead. The Golden Eagles added one more goal before junior Michael Bergan, freshman Anthony Menickelli and junior Owen Riley each added goals to cap the scoring.
Nazareth used three goalies with sophomore McLean Ralson playing the first three quarters before freshman Zac Isaac and junior Colin Perks combined to finish the game as the trio combined for 11 saves.
Nazareth will head to Wingate, North Carolina for games against Ohio Northern (Saturday) and Western New England (Tuesday).
