ALBANY, NY – The Hartwick men's lacrosse team (4-8, 2-3 Empire 8) clinched an Empire 8 post season berth as they defeated the Russell Sage Gators (5-10, 2-4 Empire 8) on the road on Wednesday night, 16-7.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Garrett Frost (Wading River, N.Y.) got things going offensively for the Hawks, finding the back of the net off of a feed from Tyler Nocito (Mahopac, N.Y.) a minute and forty seconds into the first quarter.
- Despite the Gators responding just under 30 seconds later, the Hawks netted two straight to take a 3-1 lead.
- Hartwick would allow one more Sage goal before going on a run of eight unanswered goals from the 8:18 mark in the 1st through the 7:57 mark of the third quarter.
- Colin August (Garrison, N.Y.) and Frost led the charge with August picking up three goals across that span while Frost tacked on two during the run.
- The Hawks were able to shut down any push from the Gators, causing 24 turnovers.
- Nick Cacciola (Wading River, N.Y.) and Joseph Pagano (Oceanside, N.Y.) combined for 11 of those caused turnovers. Pagano also picked up six ground balls.
- Kaiden Johnson (Wakefield, Mass.) earned the win between the pipes, collecting 12 saves.
- Offensively, August finished the night with six goals and two assists, while Frost collected five goals.
