The Empire 8 Conference announced its 2024 Empire 8 Women’s Lacrosse Championship All-Tournament Team on Wednesday, May 8. Junior midfielder Sydney Carpenter of St. John Fisher University was named the Empire 8 Tournament Most Valuable Player for the third straight year after leading the Cardinals to their 12th consecutive Empire 8 Championship over the weekend.

Carpenter tallied 13 points on 10 goals and three assists to go along with 17 draw controls in the two Empire 8 Tournament contests. She scored four goals and had nine draw controls in the E8 semifinal win over Hartwick on May 3. Carpenter saves her best for the title game, exploding for a career-high nine points on six goals and three assists to go along with eight draw controls, four ground balls and three caused turnovers in St. John Fisher’s 20-5 win over Utica University in the title game on May 4. Carpenter, the league’s first three-time E8 Tournament MVP, has shattered the Empire 8 career record for draw controls with 409 in just three seasons. Carpenter was one of five St. John Fisher student-athletes to earn All-Tournament Team honors.
