Six Empire 8 women's lacrosse teams were named to the 2024 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Academic Honor Squad, while 50 student-athletes garnered IWLCA Division III Academic Honor Roll accolades for their hard work in the classroom.
The IWLCA named 325 schools across Division I, II, III, and NAIA as IWLCA Academic Honor Squads for the 2023-24 academic year. To qualify for this prestigious honor, the women’s lacrosse team must have posted a 3.2 or higher team GPA for the academic year. Empire 8 institutions Alfred University, Hartwick College, Nazareth University, St. John Fisher University, Utica University i8and 2024-25 E8 newcomer SUNY Geneseo earned this prestigious team honor.
In addition, 1,125 student-athletes from 201 different institutions were named to the 2024 IWLCA Division III Academic Honor Roll. To be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater.
Nazareth led all Empire 8 programs with 10 student-athletes honored. St. John Fisher University and Utica University were right behind with eight student-athletes honored, while back-to-back Empire 8 Champion Hartwick College and newcomer SUNY Geneseo both had seven student-athletes earn the honor.
