SUNY Brockport Director of Athletics Dr. Erick Hart has announced the hiring of Nick Fiorentino as the Golden Eagles full-time head men's lacrosse coach on Tuesday.  Fiorentino will be primarily responsible for managing all functions and oversight of Brockport's men's lacrosse program.

"We are thrilled to welcome Nick Fiorentino as the new head coach of our men's lacrosse program at SUNY Brockport. Coach Fiorentino brings a wealth of experience and a winning pedigree as a player and a coach at the professional and Division III levels. We're extremely excited about his experience leading nationally recognized programs as a coach and winning two NCAA Division III National Championships as a student-athlete at Salisbury," said Dr. Hart. "His leadership and vision align perfectly with our commitment to excellence. We are confident that under his guidance, our program will continue to grow and achieve new levels of success. We look forward to an exciting future with Coach Fiorentino at the helm."

Fiorentino comes to Brockport with over 13 years of coaching experience, and he was most recently the head coach at SUNY Geneseo where he made three straight SUNYAC Conference Championship appearances in 2019, 2020 and 2021. "My family and I could not be more thrilled to join the Brockport community, University, and Athletic Department," said Fiorentino. "I would like to thank Athletic Director, Erick Hart, for the opportunity to lead the men's lacrosse program whose future is extremely bright!"

While he was at Geneseo he also spent two seasons as an assistant coach with the Chrome Lacrosse Club of the Premier Lacrosse League. During that time, he was involved in all aspects and decisions made for the club and he was also tabbed as the Chrome's offensive coordinator and scouting coordinator.

In 2016 he spent time as an assistant coach at Division III power RIT where he was the recruiting coordinator. Prior to his stint at RIT, he spent three seasons (2013-2016) as the head assistant coach at SUNY Cortland where he was the recruiting coordinator, academic advisor and as a coordinator on both offense and defense.

"Our value system is going to carry us through the adverse situations we face and teach us to view every challenge as an opportunity for success. As individuals and as a program we will embrace the concept of a growth mindset," said Fiorentino. "Each day we will strive for greatness in the classroom, on the field, and in the community.  I could not be more excited to teach, educate, and coach the men's lacrosse student-athletes and bring an Empire 8 Championship to Brockport!"

He was also the associate head coach at Ohio Wesleyan University for three seasons where he was the offensive coordinator from 2010-2013. His first coaching position after a successful collegiate playing career was a two-year assignment as an assistant coach at his alma mater of Salisbury University.

As a division III student-athlete at Salisbury he won NCAA National Championships with the Seagulls in 2007 and 2008. In 2008 he was the starting goaltender and after his performance on and off the field, Salisbury created an award in his named titled the Fiorentino "Ever Ready" Award.

Fiorentino earned his bachelor's degree from Salisbury in 2008 and his master's degree from the same institution in 2010. He currently resides in Fairport with his wife Kaitlyn and their three children Logan, Brodie and Tate.
