2025 E8 Women's Cross Country Championship to take place Saturday, Nov. 1 at St. John Fisher University; SUNY Geneseo looks to repeat as E8 Champions

The 2025 Empire 8 Women’s Cross Country Championship will take place at 12 p.m. on Saturday, November 1 at Murphy Field Cross Country Course in Pittsford, NY, on the campus of St. John Fisher University. Eleven teams will vie for the team title in the 6,000-meter event. Nationally-ranked SUNY Geneseo will look to repeat as Empire 8 Champions. Live results will be able from www.leonetiming.com
 
National powerhouse SUNY Geneseo will look to repeat as Empire 8 Champions Saturday. The Knights enter the Championship ranked 15th in the most recent USTFCCCA Division III national poll and second in the USTFCCCA Niagara Region rankings. Geneseo has won three team events this season and have won 13straight league titles (12 SUNYAC, one Empire 8). Last season, Geneseo also was second at the Niagara Region Championships and sent a team to nationals for the 24th straight season. Geneseo placed ninth nationally at the 2024 NCAA Championships and have recorded 10 straight top-10 team finishes, five top-three finishes overall and were NCAA Division III National Champions in 2005. Led by head coach Dan Moore, Geneseo has a strong group of student-athletes competing, including Ann Brennan, who was third at the 2024 E8 Championship and is a three-time Empire 8 Runner of the Week in 2025. She was second at the University of Rochester Yellowjacket Invitational on Sept. 20 and recorded a personal best time of 21:24.1 at the Connecticut College Invite on Oct. 18. Junior Jillian O’ Rourke, senior Sierra Doody and sophomore Ari Reback were also All-E8 first team selections in 2024. Annika Hurley was also a returning All-E8 pick. First-year Kaitlyn Hotaling will also look to earn a top finish.
 
The Golden Flyers of Nazareth finished second at the 2024 Empire 8 Championship after winning the E8 title in 2023 with four all-conference runners returning. Senior Ella Impaglia finished fourth overall in the 2023 championship and garnered All-Niagara Region accolades in each of the last two seasons. She has earned a pair of top-10 finishes this season. Junior Meghan Moyer was the 2023 Empire 8 Rookie of the Year and is a two-time All-E8 selection. Juniors Kelsey Fahy and Kennedy Doran earned Empire 8 third team accolades last season. Bailey Visingard, Felicity Schreier and Jane Beyer will also look to earn All-E8 accolades.
 
Utica University will look to improve on its third-place finish at the 2024 Empire 8 Championship on Saturday. Sophomore Catherine Manna and junior Marlo Townsend garnered All-Empire 8 second team honors in 2024, while Maria Stuhlman was a third team pick,. Townsend has enjoyed strong finishes at both the University of Rochester Yellowjacket Invitational, Paul Short Run at Lehigh, and was fourth at the Hamilton Invitational.
 
St. John Fisher will look to get back to the top of the Empire 8 after having its three-year run of league titles snapped in 2023. Olivia Grinnell and Caitlin Voloshen will look to repeat as All-Empire 8 selections. Voloshen was an All-E8 second team selection in each of the last two seasons, while Grinnell was a third team pick in 2023 and second team selection in 2024. Maggie Bacon was a top-35 finish at the 2024 E8 Championship. Lauren Dunn, Taylor Hoffman and Brianne Hurlburt will also look to garner All-E8 accolades on Saturday.
 
The Golden Eagles of SUNY Brockport will look to improve on its fifth-place finish in its first season as an Empire 8 member in 2024. Sophomore Ethne Degan has emerged as Brockport’s top runner this season and is a two-time E8 Runner of the Week. She recorded a top-time of 22:12.2 over 6,000-meters at the Highlander Invitational on Oct. 11. Senior Sierra Basco was an All-Empire 8 third team selection in 2024, Salma Mourmen, Esther Namkunba, and Maeve Robarge will also look to contribute for the Golden Eagles this weekend. The Golden Eagles enter the 2025 E8 Championship ranked ninth in the USTFCCCA Niagara Region rankings
 
Sophomore Noelle Linenfelser, the 2023 Empire 8 Runner of the Year, will look to lead Houghton University to a top finish in 2025. She won the 2023 Empire 8 Individual Championship in a time of 21:38.8, garnered All-Empire 8 first team honors for the third time in 2024 and competed in her first NCAA Championship last season. Sophomore Emberlynn Nolt was 14th at the Highlander Invitational on Oct. 11, while first-year Amy Collins was 16th in that same race. Aria Larson earned All-E8 third team honors in 2023 and was a top-40 finisher last season. The Highlanders enter the 2025 E8 Championship ranked eighth in the USTFCCCA Niagara Region rankings.
 
The Hawks of Hartwick College will look to improve upon its seventh-place finish from 2024 as an upstart program. Senior Brynita Haas is back after recording a 55th place finish at the 2024 Empire 8 Championship. Sophomores Julia Weinschreider and Addison Shank, along with first-year Emilia Murphy will look to make an impact.
 
Alfred will look for a strong performance under head coach, Matt Phillips. Sophomores Alivia Kocan and Zoe Rainville earned top-50 finishes at last season’s championship. First-year Sydney Ribble was Alfred’s top finisher at the Highlander Invitational, while classmate Vladyslava Makarenko will also look to excel on Saturday.
 
The Gators of Russell Sage College will look to earn career-best times this weekend. Sydney Elmendorf and Aniya Jade-Bailey will compete.
 
Keuka College will look to make strides in its fifth Empire 8 season under head coach Ryan Johnson. Victoria Himer, Holly Purta, Christiana Curtis, Rylee Pratt and Laura Barrett will look to lead the way for the Wolves this weekend.
 
SUNY Poly will look to earn key points on Saturday. First-year runner Ava Stoby, along with Michalyn Fagan and Alexa Ulandy will compete on Saturday.
