The Empire 8 Conference announced its 2025 Empire 8 Field Hockey Championship All-Tournament Team on Wednesday, Nov. 12. Junior midfielder Sara O'Donnell of SUNY Geneseo was named the Empire 8 Tournament Most Outstanding Player after leading Geneseo to its second consecutive league title.
O'Donnell patrolled the midfield for the Knights in their two Empire 8 Championship Tournament wins, as they out-scored No. 4 St. John Fisher and No. 3 Nazareth University by a combined 11-1 in the tournament to roll to the league title and earn the Empire 8's automatic berth into the 2025 NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championship Tournament. O'Donnell's standout play in the transition game allowed the Knights to out-shoot their opponents by a combined 54-10 in the tournament.
O'Donnell was one of four Geneseo student-athletes to earn All-Tournament Team honors. Teammates Shannon Cunningham, Ella Greico and Sam Lewis were repeat selections to the E8 All-Tournament Team. Lewis was the 2024 E8 Field Hockey Championship Most Outstanding Player.
