GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation
Dani Drews has announced Ian Nash as the interim head coach for the men's lacrosse program. Nash becomes Geneseo's 11th head coach in program history, succeeding Drew Bezek who spent the last four years coaching the Knights and leading them to two conference championships.

This will mark Nash's fourth year at Geneseo, after serving as the Defensive Coordinator for the 2021, 2022, and 2025 seasons. During his time with the Knights he has coached and mentored the SUNYAC Defensive Player of the Year (Mark Pav- 2021, '22), SUNYAC Rookie of the Year (Trevor Bollinger- 2021), six USILA All-Americans, and 16 SUNYAC All-Conference Players. In 2023 and 2024, Nash served as the defensive coordinator at SUNY Brockport where he coached and mentored six SUNYAC All-Conference Players, and one USILA All-American (Honorable Mention).
"We are excited to see Coach Nash take on the men's lacrosse head coach position for the remainder of the 2025-26 season," said Drews. "Ian brings a wealth of experience as an assistant coach, and student-athlete at the collegiate level, and we can't wait to see the impact on the academic and athletic success of our student-athletes, as well as the Geneseo community that he will have this year.
Nash began his coaching career as the defensive coordinator for Roberts Wesleyan in 2015. In his second year, Coach Nash led his Man-Down Defense to an 82.1% success rate, which ranked fourth the Nation. The defense saw a significant improvement in Scoring Defense, decreasing their Goals Against Average by 2.62.
As a player, Nash played for West Irondequoit High School (NY) from 2007-2008. In 2007, Nash played for the Section V Championship Title team that made it to the State semi-finals, earning Second Team All-County honors as a Junior. In 2008, Nash led his team to the Section V Championship Game and earned First Team All-County Honors.
In college, Nash won the 2011 National Championship at Salisbury University, seeing significant playing time at the Long Stick Midfield position. Prior to Salisbury, Nash played for Monroe Community College. At Monroe, Nash earned All-American honors in '09, as well as, First Team All-Region Honors in '10. Nash also served as Team Captain both years at Monroe. He then finished his lacrosse playing career at Roberts in 2013, where he was voted a team captain.
