SUNY Geneseo continues to lead after day three of the 2025 Empire 8 Men's Swimming and Diving Championships

WEBSTER, NY – SUNY Geneseo continues to hold a commanding lead after day three of the 2025 Empire 8 Men’s Swimming and Diving Championship, held the Webster Aquatic Center on Friday, February 21.
 
The nationally-ranked Knights have 822 team points to hold the lead over defending champion Hartwick College, who has 488 points after Friday’s action. Alfred moved into third place with 411 points, while SUNY Brockport has 368 and Nazareth, who has 306 points.
 
Alfred’s 200-yard medley relay team of William LaMastus, Wade LaMastus, Emiliano Terrazas and Emmanuel Drappatz opened the night with a win by nearly five second over runner-up Hartwick in a time of 1:33.81.
 
Geneseo’s Connor Baird won his second title of the week, taking the 200-yard butterfly by just over two seconds in a time of 1:51.67 over runner-up Erik Parkes of Brockport.  
 
Alex Trzaskowski nipped out will Will LaMastus of Alfred by just 27 one-hundredths of a second in the 100-yard backstroke, hitting the will first in 50.88 seconds.
 
Jake Nielsen led a 1-2 finish for the Knights in the 100-yard breaststroke, as he was 49 one-hundredths of a second fastest than teammate Alex Palmer, winning in a time of 55.26 seconds, which is also an NCAA “B” cut performance.  
 
Trent Makiowec of Geneseo led a 1-2-3 finish for the Knights in the 1-meter diving, winning with a final score of 592.40. Makiowec set the Empire 8 Championship record in the prelims, recording a score of 596.85. Greg Meder was runner-up with a score of 545.80 and Evan Rigal was third with a score of 442.35.
