SUNY Geneseo earned its first league title in its first season as a member as action wrapped up at the four-day 2025 Empire 8 Men’s Swimming and Diving Championship, held at the Webster Aquatic Center on Saturday, Feb. 22.
The nationally-ranked Knights recorded 1,106 team points to hold the lead over defending champion Hartwick College, who finished with 635 points. Alfred finished in third place with 605 points, while SUNY Brockport finished with 496 points and Nazareth placed fifth with 383 points.
Hartwick standout Cameron Drake began the final night of action by winning the 1,650-yard freestyle for the second consecutive season in a time of 16:02.58, as he cruised to a 33-second win.
Brian Pabisch recorded an NCAA “B” cut time in winning the 100-yard freestyle in :44.84 by seven-tenths of a second.
Chris Varrichio of Geneseo took the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 1:53.66, while Alex Palmer won the 200-yard breaststroke in an NCAA “B” cut time of 2:00.97.
The quartet of Jordan Nielsen, Jake Nielsen, Brian Pabisch, and Dylan Gallub broke their own overall E8 record set earlier in the season and shattered an 11-year old championship mark by winning the 400-yard freestyle relay in an NCAA “B” cut time of 3:00.96.
