Joe Johnson, a senior defender on the Russell Sage College men's lacrosse team, was named to the USILA Division III Men's Lacrosse Team of the Week for games ending March 16, 2025. It is the second time in the last two seasons that he has earned the prestigious weekly honor.
Johnson, a native of Gansevoort, NY, led Russell Sage on both ends of the field in three Russell Sage wins with six goals, six caused turnovers and 19 ground balls in a 3-0 week. He scored twice in a 15-7 win over Curry, grabbed seven ground balls and opened the scoring five seconds into a 16-5 win over Greensboro, and added a season-high three goals and eight ground balls against St. Joseph’s (L.I.).
Johnson leads the Gators with 45 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers to go along with nine goals this season. Russell Sage is back in action this weekend, opening up Empire 8 conference play at Alfred University at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 22.
