BROCKPORT, NY – Head coach Linda Michele and senior midfielder Sydney Carpenter reached historic program milestones in the No. 16 St. John Fisher women's lacrosse team's 18-3 road defeat at SUNY Brockport on Wednesday evening.
Michele, who has 223 career coaching wins (23 came at Brockport from 2010-11), won her 200th game as St. John Fisher's head coach. Already all over the Fisher record book, Carpenter tallied four assists and passed Jordan Johnson (122 assists from 2014-17) for the program record (126 and counting).
The Cardinals improved to 13-0 overall (6-0 Empire 8) with the victory, their 18th regular season win in a row and 60th straight over an Empire 8 opponent (regular season and postseason). Brockport fell to 5-8 overall and 4-2 in the conference.
How It Happened

As has been the case in almost every game this season, the Cardinals jumped out to a massive lead in the opening quarter. Junior Kaley Griffin scored four goals, and Carpenter netted three to go along with two assists as part of a 10-0 start for Fisher. Seniors Emma Biel (two goals) and Hanna Kumpf (one) also found the back of the net in the first 15 minutes.

The Cardinals scored three more times in the second quarter to take a 13-0 lead into halftime. Griffin accounted for two goals in the quarter, while senior Farrah Zalla had the other.

Sophomore Chelsea Lopata opened the second-half scoring to give the Cardinals a 14-0 lead. Griffin scored her seventh goal of the contest with just more than a minute remaining in the third quarter, extending Fisher's lead to 15-1.

Juniors Sydney Closinski, Dharma Makarowsky and Megan McGrath added goals in the fourth quarter.

The Cardinals have outscored their opponents by 66 goals (81-15) in the first quarter of games this season.

Griffin set a career high with her seven goals, tied for the second most in a game in program history.

Carpenter had three goals and four assists en route to seven total points. She has amassed five or more points in all but three games this season.

Carpenter (298 points) needs just seven more points to pass Taylor Hughes (304 points from 2011-14) for the most in Fisher history.

Carpenter has scored at least one goal in 25 consecutive games dating back to the middle of last season. She has tallied multiple points in 24 of her last 25 games.

Senior Mary Fiorentino matched her career high in assists (4).

Junior defender Maddie Lowney controlled a team-high six draws.

Senior defender Ella Stewart caused a career-high five turnovers.

Sophomore goalkeeper Kaylee Gadol made three saves in net.
