No. 3 seed SUNY Brockport (9-8) and No. 4 seed Nazareth University (11-7) advanced to the 2025 Empire 8 Women's Lacrosse Semifinals after earning first round wins on Tuesday, April 29. SUNY Brockport defeated No. 6 seed Utica University, 16-2, while Nazareth defeated No. 5 Hartwick College, 15-5.
Nazareth will make the quick trip on East Ave. to play No. 1 seed St. John Fisher, who is ranked No. 6 in current NCAA Division III National Power Index rankings at 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, while SUNY Brockport will head to SUNY Geneseo to take on the Knights in the second semifinal on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. St. John Fisher defeated Nazareth, 16-7 on April 19, while SUNY Geneseo defeated semifinal opponent SUNY Brockport, 16-9 on April 3.
The two semifinal winners will play in the title game on Saturday, May 3 at the highest remaining seed. The winner will receive an automatic berth into the 2025 NCAA Division III Women’s Lacrosse Championship, which begins with first and second round action May 10-11.
NO. 3 SUNY BROCKPORT 16, NO. 6 UTICA 2
SUNY Brockport scored the first nine goals of the contest on its way to its first Empire 8 postseason victory, 16-2 over Utica University.
Four different Golden Eagles scored at least three goals in the win. Hailey Lewkowich led Brockport with five goals, while Karaline McCarthy and Alayna Foos had three goals and an assist apiece and Sarah Kilburn scored three times.
Maria Stuhlman and Bella Kolb scored for the Pioneers who finish the 2025 season with a 7-10 mark.
NO. 4 NAZARETH 15, NO. 5 HARTWICK 5
Nazareth led 8-0 after one quarter of play and scored 15 of the first 17 goals in the contest to advance to the Empire 8 Semifinals for the 21st straight season.
Katherine McPeak led the Golden Flyers with seven points on four goals and three assists, while Grace Gardner had two goals and three assists for a five-point effort. Liddie Hoare, Emily Reichard and Grace Seither tallied two goals apiece in the win.
Kristen Vaccarelli scored a goal and added two assists for the Hawks. The goal was her Empire 8 record 228th of her collegiate career. Katrina Marten added a pair of assists for Hartwick, giving her 168 in her career.
Hartwick finishes the season with an 8-8 record.
