No. 1 seed St. John Fisher University (17-0) and No. 2 seed SUNY Geneseo (12-6) advanced to the 2025 Empire 8 Women's Lacrosse Championship game after earning semifinal wins on Thursday, May 1. St. John Fisher defeated No. 4 seed Nazareth University, 22-4, while Geneseo defeated No. 3 SUNY Brockport, 13-9.
The Cardinals will host Geneseo in the 2025 E8 Women's Lacrosse Championship game at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 3 from Growney Stadium. St. John Fisher is looking to win its 13th straight Empire 8 Championship and 15th overall in program history, while Geneseo is attempting to win its first Empire 8 title and is in the title game in its first season as an E8 member. The winner of Saturday's game will earn an automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
St. John Fisher won the previous meeting between the two schools earlier in the season, 14-7 on April 7. Sydney Carpenter tallied four goals and six points in the win.

Sydney Carpenter moved closer to another historic milestone as the No. 1-seeded St. John Fisher women's lacrosse team defeated No. 4-seeded Nazareth 22-4 in the Empire 8 Conference Semifinals on Thursday evening at Growney Stadium.
The Cardinals (17-0), chasing their 13th consecutive Empire 8 title, will host No. 2-seeded SUNY Geneseo in the conference final game on Saturday. The Knights beat No. 3-seeded SUNY Brockport 13-9 to punch their ticket to the championship on Thursday night.
Nazareth finished its season 11-8 overall.
Junior Kaley Griffin and senior Emma Biel, who surpassed 100 points for her career, scored five goals apiece. Senior Hanna Kumpf and sophomore Chelsea Lopata amassed their five points on two goals and three assists.
Carpenter, who recently became Fisher's all-time assists leader, scored twice to reach 300 points for her career. She needs five more to pass Taylor Hughes (304 points from 2011-14) for the Fisher and Empire 8 record.
Sophia Scialdone led Nazareth with a goal and two assists, while Makenna Misurewicz added two helpers. Julia Dietz, Liddie Hoare and Emily Reichard also scored for the Golden Flyers, who had their season end with an 11-8 mark.
The Cardinals have now won 65 straight games against Empire 8 opponents dating back to the 2018 season.

SUNY Geneseo advanced to its first Empire 8 Championship in its first season as a league member, holding on to defeat No. 3 SUNY Brockport 13-9 in the E8 Semifinal from College Stadium.
Alaina Reina led the Knights with three goals and an assist, while Maddie Brown added two goals and two assists. Dany Emler, Lila Warner and Olivia Luchetti had two goals apiece,
Hailey Lewkowich scored four goals for the Golden Eagles, while Karaline McCarthy had a goal and four assists for SUNY Brockport had its season come to an end with a 9-9 mark.
