St. John Fisher's Maddie Lowney Named IWLCA Division III Defensive Player of the Week

Junior defender Maddie Lowney of the St. John Fisher University women's lacrosse team was named the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Division III National Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday, May 13. 

En route to a 21-5 dominant win over John Carroll in the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament, Lowney became the fourth player in program history to reach 100 career caused turnovers. She had four in the contest and has 42 caused turnovers this season, tied for the program's single-season record. Lowney also added 10 draw controls to her stat line this matchup, which contributed to her 186 career draw controls, the fifth most by a player in Fisher history. 

St John Fisher has moved on from the opening round of the 2025 Division III Women's Lacrosse Tournament after their win over John Carroll. They will face Salisbury University on Saturday, May 17.
