Five Empire 8 Student-Athletes Selected to Play in USILA North-South Men's Lacrosse Senior All-Star Game

Senior Jimmy Atkinson of SUNY Geneseo, senior Owen Riley and graduate student Quinn McKercher of Nazareth University, senior Joe Johnson of Russell Sage College and senior Jack Cornell of St. John Fisher University were selected by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) to play in the North-South Senior All-Star Game for 2025. The contest will be held at Roger Williams on Friday, May 23.

Atkinson, a attackman from Northport, NY, finished a record-breaking career with the Knights becoming the program's all-time leading scorer with 155 goals. He ended the season with 43 goals, 15 assists, 58 points and 21 ground balls. He was an E8 first team all-conference selection.

Riley, a midfielder from Cortland, NY, was an E8 first team all-conference member recording 25 goals and 22 assists for 47 points.

McKercher, an attackman from Lake Mary, FL, was an E8 first team all-conference member, as well as the Offensive Player of the Year for the second time in his career. His last honor was in 2023. He led the conference in points per game (5.89) and in assists per game (2.89). He finished the season with 45 goals and 30 assists. He now holds the program record for career goals with 210.

Johnson, a defender from Gansevoort, NY, was an E8 first team all-conference member for the second consecutive season. He finished his spring with a program career record of 112 caused turnovers, averaging 1.84 per game. He added 254 career ground balls as well. 

Cornell, a defender from Levittown, NY, was an E8 first team all-conference member as well as the two-time Defenive Player of the Year. He led a St. John Fisher defense with 85 ground balls and 37 caused turnovers.
