Senior midfielder Sydney Carpenter, junior defender Maddie Lowney and senior attack Hanna Kumpf of Empire 8 Champion St. John Fisher University were named 2025 Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-Americans on Friday, May 23. Carpenter was a first team selection, earning her third consecutive All-American honor, while Lowney was a second team pick and Kumpf earned third team accolades.
A total of 57 student-athletes were selected across the three All-American teams, which represented 25 NCAA Division III institutions.
Carpenter, who was previously the Empire 8 Offensive Player of the Year in both 2022 and 2024, Midfielder of the Year in 2025 and Rookie of the Year in 2022, recorded a tremendous senior season for the Cardinals, appearing in 16 games for the E8 Champions, recording 74 points on 38 goals and 36 assists to go along with 78 draw controls, 33 ground balls and 21 caused turnovers.
She finished her remarkable career with 300 career points on 174 goals and 126 assists and is the Empire 8 all-time leader with 504 draw controls. Carpenter was a First Team All-American in 2023 and 2025 and third team selection in 2024.
Lowney, who was previously the 2023 Empire 8 Rookie of the Year and 2024 and 2025 Defensive Player of the Year, enjoyed a tremendous junior season for the Cardinals with 53 ground balls, 75 draw controls and 44 caused turnovers. She was a key component of the St. John Fisher defensive unit that allowed just 29 goals in nine Empire 8 regular season contests and was named the IWLCA National Defensive Player of the Week on May 13.
Kumpf, a native of Victor, NY, was named the 2025 Empire 8 Offensive Player of the Year. She finished the 2025 season with 63 points on 46 goals and 17 assists in 20 games to go along with 52 draw controls. She scored at least 38 goals in all three seasons she has played at Fisher and recorded 127 goals and 173 points in 57 career games.
St. John Fisher finished with a 19-1 record in 2025 and won its 13th straight Empire 8 Championship. The Cardinals advanced to the third round of the 2025 NCAA Tournament.
