WEBSTER, NY – Three different records fell, as SUNY Geneseo continues to hold a commanding lead after day three of the 2026 Empire 8 Men’s Swimming and Diving Championship, held the Webster Aquatic Center on Friday, February 20.
The nationally-ranked Knights have 882 team points to hold the lead over Hartwick College, who has 497 points after Friday’s action. SUNY Brockport is third with 474 points, while Alfred University is right behind in fourth with 453 points and Nazareth University has 168 points.
Alfred University first-year standout Youssef amr Abdalatiff broke his own Empire 8 record set earlier in the season in winning the 100-yard backstroke by nearly three seconds in a NCAA”B” cut time of 48.71 seconds. Last year’s champion, Alex Trzaskowski of Geneseo was the runner-up.
Geneseo opened the night with an Empire 8 Championship record in the 200-yard medley relay, as the team of Dylan Gallub, Alex Palmer, Brian Pabisch and Jake Nielsen cruised to a four-second win in a time of 1:29.85, breaking a 13-year old championship record held by Stevens.
Alex Palmer of Geneseo broke a seven-year old championship mark in the 100-yard breaststroke, defeating teammate and defending championship Jake Nielsen by just over a second in a time of 54.30. He smashed the previous mark of 55.17 set by Tyler Zankl of Stevens in 2019.
Geneseo’s Connor Baird won his second consecutive E8 crown in the 200-yard butterfly by just over two seconds in a time of 1:51.04 over teammate Jack Keene.
Greg Meder of Geneseo won his second straight diving event of the week, winning the 1-meter event with a score of 548.60. Brenden Jardin-Reed of SUNY Brockport placed second with a score of 494.35, while Cameron Corona of Geneseo placed third.
Geneseo’s 800-yard freestyle relay team of Nick Lemmo, Gannon Moore, Casey Connors and Peter Peyser hung on the claim a close final over Alfred, emerginf victorious by just under a second in a time of 6:53.74.
