INDIANAPOLIS, IN - The SUNY Geneseo men's swimming and diving team kicked off the NCAA Championship Meet on Wednesday, March 18, and posted 14 points behind a fifth-place finish from
Greg Meder in the three-meter dive.
Meder earned First-Team All-American honors after finishing sixth in the prelims with a score of 487.30, and then he followed it up in the finals by earning fifth overall at 509.55, beating out sixth place by .25 points.
Alex Palmer competed in the 200-yard IM and placed 30th overall with a time of 1:51.03.
Jake Nielsen took on the 50-yard freestyle for the Knights, and placed 19th overall at 20.18, while teammate
Brian Pabisch took 25th at 20.26. The team of
Dylan Gallub, Palmer, Pabisch, and Nielsen capped off the meet in the 400-yard medley relay and took 20th overall at 3:19.35.
On the women's side,
Hannah Brockman opened up the meet in the 500 yard freestyle, posting a time of 5:06.32 in 38th place.
Alex Sotek took on the 50-yard freestyle for the Knights, and finished 19th overall at 23.32 seconds, while teammate
Emily Thomas finished at 24.60 seconds. The Knights capped off day one in the 400-yard medley relay, with the team of Sotek, Thomas,
Sibby Lowe, and
Erin Johannsen finishing 20th overall at 3:51.48.
