Geneseo Flag Football Captures 40-6 Victory In Program's First Game

GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo flag football program competed in its first varsity contest on Wednesday, March 4, and came away with a decisive 40-6 victory. The Knights announced the addition of Flag Football as a varsity sport in Fall 2024, and have now begun their first season of varsity competition on a high note.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The two teams opened up the game in a defensive battle, however, early in the second quarter Corina Dunn picked off a pass from the Saints early, setting up a 15-yard rushing touchdown by Ella Koopman.
  • D'Youville answered with a touchdown of their own, but the Knights stopped the PAT and then scored before the halftime break to extend their lead to 13-6 while regaining momentum.
  • Natalia DiPalma provided a big highlight for Geneseo early in the second half, rushing for a 55-yard touchdown to extend the lead to 19-6. Later in the quarter, Koopman completed a 15-yard touchdown pass to Carmella Motti.
  • The Knights continued to put the pressure on the Saints in the final quarter, with Natalie Budgar adding a rushing touchdown to help secure the 40-6 win.

Geneseo will travel to Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday, March 7 at 6 p.m.
