The Empire 8 Conference announced its 2026 Empire 8 Women’s Lacrosse Championship All-Tournament Team on Monday, May 4. Senior defender Maddie Lowney of St. John Fisher University was named the Empire 8 Tournament Most Valuable Player after leading the Cardinals to their 14th consecutive Empire 8 Championship over the weekend.
Lowney was a force all over the defensive half of the field, compiling 10 caused turnovers, 10 ground balls and eight draw controls in the two Empire 8 Tournament contests. She had four caused turnovers, four ground balls and four draw controls in the first three quarters of the E8 semifinal win over Utica University on April 30. Lowney grabbed caused six turnovers, recorded six ground balls and added four draw controls in St. John Fisher’s 12-10 win over SUNY Geneseo in the title game on Saturday. Lowney earned her fourth straight E8 Women’s Lacrosse Championship All-Tournament accolade and was one of five St. John Fisher student-athletes to earn All-Tournament Team honors.
