BUFFALO, NY – The Alfred State football team remained unbeaten on Saturday, defeating Buffalo State 41-7 on the road to improve to 3-0 on the season.
Alfred State was led offensively by Noah Currier, who rushed for 216 yards and four touchdowns on 24 carries, averaging 9.0 yards per attempt. Quarterback Chase Shepanski completed 15 of 23 passes for 224 yards and a touchdown without an interception, while adding 14 yards on the ground. In the receiving game, Jordan Jackson led the Pioneers with 10 receptions for 84 yards, while Elijah Georges added four receptions, 133 yards, and a touchdown. Defensively, Trevor Maly led the Pioneers with 12 total tackles, followed by Donnel Hall with 10 and Liam McQuiggan and Demarii Thompson with nine apiece. Thompson recorded a sack, while Ryan Heinz totaled eight tackles, 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble.
The Pioneers controlled the game from start to finish, using a balanced offensive attack and a dominant defensive performance to secure their third straight victory. Alfred State built a comfortable lead early and continued to pull away throughout the afternoon, holding Buffalo State to just one late touchdown.
Quarterback Chase Shepanski led the offense through the air, connecting with Jordan Jackson on several key completions as Alfred State consistently moved the football. Jackson was a focal point of the passing game, hauling in multiple receptions and providing explosive plays downfield.
On the ground, Noah Currier paced the rushing attack. His biggest play came in the third quarter when he broke loose for a 27-yard touchdown run to cap a 98-yard drive and extend the Pioneer advantage. Currier also delivered several key runs on third down, helping Alfred State sustain lengthy scoring drives throughout the contest.
The Pioneer defense was equally impressive, limiting Buffalo State's opportunities all afternoon. Alfred State came up with one of its biggest stops midway through the fourth quarter when the Bengals drove deep into Pioneer territory before being turned away on fourth down at the Alfred State 11-yard line.
Defensively, Trevor Maly recorded the key stop on the fourth-down stand, while Ryan Heinz added a sack late in the game. Contributions came from all over the defense as the Pioneers consistently pressured Buffalo State and prevented sustained scoring drives.
Buffalo State scored its lone touchdown with 3:22 remaining in the fourth quarter, but the outcome had long since been decided as Alfred State maintained a commanding lead throughout the contest.
Alfred State finished the afternoon with a dominant 41-7 victory, earning its third consecutive win and remaining undefeated through three games.
With a 3-0 start in hand, Alfred State now turns its attention to Homecoming Weekend as the Pioneers welcome Utica to Pioneer Stadium next Saturday at 1 pm.
