St. John Fisher University junior Ethan Billings was named Empire 8 Runner of the Meet, as the conference unveiled its 2022 Men’s Cross Country All-Conference selections on Thursday, November 11.
Billings used a strong brush over the final 1,000-meters to win the individual title by six seconds. at the 2022 Empire 8 Cross Country Championships at Field of Dreams Park on the campus of Houghton University on October 29. He won the race by just over six seconds in a time of 25:42.0 over the 8,000-meter course. Nazareth College standout Nathan Bowers finished second overall for the third straight year in 25:48.2, two seconds ahead of teammate Matt Reimann, who placed third.
The Empire 8 first, second and third team selections were determined at the championship meet on October 29. The top-seven finishers earned first team honors, while finishers 8-14 garnered second team accolades and finishers 15-21 were third team picks. Nazareth senior Nathan McNally earned Empire 8 first team honors for the fourth time in his collegiate career. Bowers and Billings garnered All-E8 first team accolades for the third straight season, while Eells and Reimann were repeat selections.
