Plans After Graduation:
I applied for the NCAA Post-Grad Internship Program, so I am hoping to hear good news back from that. If that does not work out, plan B is to search and apply for GA positions where I will have the opportunity to coach and gain my master’s degree. And if plan A or B don’t work out, I will look to go to Germany for a couple years to get my master’s degree.

What Do You See Yourself Doing in 5 Years: In 5 years, I see myself with a teaching job in physical education. I have a huge passion for coaching, I currently coach at my alma mater and for a club volleyball team in my area. I have also fell in love with golf, so in the summertime I see myself getting involved with something through golf.

Any Interesting or Exciting Internships You Have Done or Are Currently Working On (Where and what did you do or are you doing): I applied for the NCAA Post-Grad Internship Program, so I am really excited to hopefully get involved with that. The program is finely developed and has so many benefits for post-grads, being selected for that program would offer me many great opportunities. The NCAA Leadership Development team offers many great services for students.

How Has Playing Collegiately and in the Empire 8 Prepared You For Life After College:
Academics is a huge part of the college experience, but there are undoubtedly benefits to be gained in athletics that cannot be recreated in a classroom. I’ve learned so much about how to manage not just time but multiple tasks and responsibilities in general. Being on a team has also taught me a lot about how to be selfless and put others in front of yourself.

Favorite Athletic Memory from Your Time in College:
Being able to participate in multiple seasons for different sports. Playing against friends and making new ones is always a great experience as well.

Biggest On-Campus Mentor:
Head athletic trainer and men’s tennis coach Tom Fashour has been a huge mentor to me. Whenever I have a problem or even just want to hang out and talk, he’s always there and I can’t thank him enough for that. Tom has a great personality, it is always laughs when we’re around him which makes the tennis season so enjoyable. He’s provided a great culture with the program and has taught me a significant amount about tennis as I picked up the sport in college.

What Have You Learned About Yourself from Freshman to Senior Year:
From freshman to senior year I’ve learned that I am a very content person. When you learn to stop reaching for things and live in the moment, life becomes simplified and very enjoyable. I have become very grateful for what I have and everything I’ve experienced. Every competition, SAAC event, NCAA Conference, etc. has given me new pieces of knowledge and has helped me grow as an individual.

What Type of Leader Are You:
I am the type of leader that strives to be steady. My high school coach who was a huge influence on me, and the reason I picked to go the physical education route, often talked about “the emotional roller coaster.” This is when players have swings and changes in their mental game, which then affects performance, we always strived to avoid that. That still sticks with me and I try to be as level-headed as possible, this makes others feel comfortable around me because they see I’m calm and confident.

One Thing Most People Do Not Know About You:
I am a dual citizen of the United States and Germany.

Advice for Freshmen Teammates or Student-Athletes:
Everyone tells you how fast the four years go by, but you don’t believe it until you’ve experienced it. As I’m in my final year, I realized that the only thing I wish didn’t come as fast were the physical aches and pains. My advice is for students to get on campus and make the absolute most of it, go all out for your sport, get involved in SAAC and do as much community service as possible. There is so much that schools and the surrounding communities have to offer, learn more and throw yourself into it. My advice is don’t be in your senior year wishing you did things that you could have been doing for the prior three.
