Oswego State golfers Erik Schleicher and Ryan Fecco represented the Empire 8 as recipients of the 2020 Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar Award for Divisions I, II, III, NAIA, and NJCAA, as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior academically in Division I, II, III, and NAIA, or receiving their Associate’s Degree and in their last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA. In addition, they must have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I, 78.0 in Division II, 78.0 in NAIA and 79.0 in Division III, 77.0 in NJCAA, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. For 2019-20 only, they must participate in 40% of the team’s competitive rounds.
Schleicher, a senior from Elma, NY, earned All-Empire 8 First Team honors in 2019-20 after carding a 151 over two rounds of the 2019-20 Empire 8 Championship in October to earn runner-up honors. It was Schleicher's second All-Empire 8 accolade, having earned second team accolades in 2017-18. He also earned Empire 8 President's List honors for the Spring semester for maintaning at least a 3.75 grade-point average.
Fecco, a sophomore from Baldwinsville, NY finished tied for 11th at the 2019-20 Empire 8 Championship, held in October. He is a four-time Empire 8 President's List recipient for maintaning at least a 3.75 grade-point average.
