The Utica College men's golf team concluded its run at the 2021 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships on Tuesday. The Pioneers wrap up competition at the second round cut tied for a 35th place finish, while posting a 36-hole team score of 669 strokes after combining to shoot a second round of 333 on the Par 71 Jones Course at the Oglebay Resort in Wheeling, West Virginia.
The team finished a total of 105 shots over par for the championship. They were 49-over on the second day.
Josh Kienz again led the Pioneers with a six-over 77 on the second day for a two-day total of 151. He wrapped up the tournament at ten-over par. He finished tied for 48th, and missed out on a chance to make the cut by a single stroke. Trine University's Carlos Coeto sunk a 35 foot putt for par on the eighteenth hole to avoid a potential playoff among all the players tied for 48th for the opportunity to advance. Kienz birdied the ninth hole and the fifteenth hole to remain in contention to make the cut.
Joe Miga improved on a difficult first round with a ten shot improvement in the second round as he put an eight-over 79 on his second round scorecard. He birdied both Par 3s on the front nine for a two-over 38 at the turn. He went on to place in a tie for 159th with a two-round total of 168. He finished the tournament at 27 strokes over par.
Adam Woodmansee tied for 176th with a second round of 90. He posted a 36 hole score of 174 and had two birdies on the front nine. Brandon Young was two shots behind him in 179th as he finished with a 176 over the two days. Nick Visconti followed up his opening round 91 with a 92 in the second round, and went on to finish 186th.
The Pioneers wrap up the Spring 2021 season as NCAA qualifiers and Empire 8 champions.
