The College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) named 789 swimmers and divers to its Scholar All-American Team for the 2020-21 season. The award recognizes students who achieved a grade point average of 3.50 or higher and were invited to compete at their respective national championship.
The Golden Flyers were represented by five student-athletes -- senior divers Sidney Taylor and Taylor Woltz, junior diver Allie Norwood, freshman diver Elizabeth Tripp and senior swimmer Taylor Robey. All were chosen as Division III All-Americans in June after the respective NCAA Championship meets were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
To qualify for First-Team Scholar All-America, student-athletes must have earned a GPA of 3.5 or higher in either the fall or spring semester and participated in their national championship. Due to the cancellation of the Division III and NAIA championship, the CSCAA established time standards for qualification based on a standard deviation of previous national championship participation.
Robey, of Hurley, N.Y., has enjoyed an honor-laden swimming career for the Golden Flyers and was selected as an All-American in the 50 freestyle for the second year in a row. She won that event at the Rochester Invitational with a season-best time of :23.61. She also won the 100 freestyle by breaking her own school record with a time of :50.93.
Taylor, of Rochester, N.Y., has been a four-year fixture as a diver for the Golden Flyers' men's team. He placed first in both 1- and 3-meter diving at the Rochester Invitational in March with scores of 297.95 and 318.65 respectively.
For the women's team in 2020-21, Norwood, Tripp and Woltz were dominant for the Golden Flyers as they finished 1-2-3 in both 1- and 3-meter diving at the Rochester Invitational.
Norwood, of Lockport, N.Y., is a repeat All-American selection as she scored 254.65 to win the 1-meter competition at the Rochester Invitational and 280.80 to win the 3-meter.
Tripp, of Hamburg, N.Y., enjoyed a strong first season with the Golden Flyers as she finished second in both the 1- and 3-meter competitions with scores of 252.00 and 280.10 respectively.
Woltz, of Marilla, N.Y., has excelled for four seasons for the Golden Flyers. She placed third in the 1-meter (250.70) and third in the 3-meter (256.70) at the Rochester Invitational.
