ELMIRA, NY -- Elmira College Director of Athletics Rhonda Faunce announced the hiring of former Elmira College golf player Mark Ryan '21 as head men's golf coach. Ryan spent one season as a student-athlete on the golf team in 2020-21 and was also a four-year member of the Soaring Eagle baseball program. Along with serving as head men's golf coach, Ryan currently serves as the assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the baseball program.

"I am thrilled to have Mark leading the charge as we get ready to begin the golf season", said Rhonda Faunce, Director of Athletics. "Mark is not only an alum of our program, but has established himself as a reliable and dedicated employee within our department over the past 12 months and his knowledge of the game will serve as a great asset to our student-athletes."

"I am extremely excited and honored to take over as the head coach of men's golf here at Elmira", said Ryan. "I want to thank Rhonda (Faunce) and Erin Gehen for believing in me and for giving me this opportunity. I would also like to thank Anthony Goncalves for all of his support and guidance. Having played here and been a part of the program, makes this even more special for me, and I look forward to building on all of the great things that Mike Zannella has done for this program."

Ryan also stated that he is looking forward to working with assistant golf coach Kevin Cook '98 and is grateful to Elmira Country Club for the resources that they provide his team. He is planning to use his experience as recruiting coordinator with the baseball program to boost the roster size and create more competition amongst the team.

Ryan was an all-state golfer and team captain at Union-Endicott High School in his hometown of Endicott, NY. Ryan graduated from Elmira in the spring of 2021 with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Finance. He is currently working on attaining his master's degree in Education from Elmira.
