St. John Fisher University extended its team lead to 38 strokes after round three of the 2022-23 Empire 8 Championship from Hershey Country Club in Hershey, PA on April 15. Final round action gets underway at 8 a.m. on Sunday, April 16. Fans can follow along with
live individual and team scores from this weekend's championship.
Fall scores will combined with scores from rounds three and four this weekend to determine team and individual awards. The 2022-23 Empire 8 Fall Men’s Golf Championship was held at Timber Banks Golf Club in Baldwinsville, NY on October 1-2.
The 2022-23 Empire 8 Men’s Golf Team Champion earns an automatic berth into the NCAA Division III Championship, which will take place May 16-19 at Keene Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville, KY.
Defending Champion St. John Fisher will look to win its 18th Empire 8 title and now hold a 38-stroke lead over SUNY Oswego (926) heading into this Sunday's action. The Cardinals posted a team-best score of 293 (+12) for the round, headlined by Nick Tellone's four-under-par round of 67, five shots better than anyone else on the round. He carded seven birdies on the day.
There was a slight weather delay early in Saturday's round before the skies cleared.
Tellone, a junior, now holds a 13-stroke lead for individual medalist honors heading into the final round at +8 overall, with teammate
Benjamin Fox in second. Oswego State graduate student
Ryan Fecco, who held the individual lead after the fall rounds, dropped to third.
Joseph DePasquale of St. John Fisher is fourth overall at +24, while teammate
RJ Juodatis and Oswego's
Jake Owens are tied for fifth overall. Juodatis recorded the second best round on Saturday, carding a 72 (+1).

AWARDS: The Empire 8 champion will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship. The top five scorers at the end of the tournament (who played in all four rounds) will earn first-team all-conference honors with the next five finishers being named to the second team. Finishers 11-15 will earn third team accolades. The individual with the lowest four-round score will be named Empire 8 Player of the Year, while the lowest scoring first-year student-athlete will earn Empire 8 Rookie of the Year honors.
THE COURSE: The Hershey Country Club was founded by iconic chocolate entrepreneur Milton S. Hershey in 1930. The club has grown since its founding, as the private club now features three separate pristine 18-hole courses. The E8 Championship will feature the club's East Course, which opened in 1969 and lays claim to over 100 bunkers scattered throughout the rolling fairways. The club and its expansive views have welcomed some of the sport's all-time greats, including Byron Nelson, Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer.
