Utica's Jane Fahy Earns All-American Honors to Lead E8 Quintet on Day Two of 2023 NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships

Fahy finished sixth overall in the women's shot put to earn her first All-American honor

PITTSFORD, NY - Utica University senior Jane Fahy earned All-American honors in the shot put, as five Empire 8 student-athletes competed on day two of the 2023 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships, held at Polisseni Track and Field Complex on the campus of Empire 8 institution St. John Fisher University on Friday, May 26.

Fahy placed sixth overall to earn the All-American honor. Her top throw came on her final throw of flight one, firing the shot an Empire 8 record 14.28 meters. That performance shattered the previous E8 mark of 14.14 meters, set by Brandy Smith of Ithaca College in 2016. It was also a personal record. That throw won the flight and put her in the finals with the fifth best throw. She surpassed 14 meters once in again on her fifth attempt at 14.04 meters. Skye Digman of Wisconsin-La Crosse won the event with a toss of 15.16 meters.

Utica junior Hunter Logan, who placed third in the shot put at the 2022 NCAA Outdoor Championships, finished 13th in 2023. He had a top distance of 15.88 meters in flight two.

A trio of student-athletes from host institution St. John Fisher competed on Friday. Junior Makenna King, who also competed in the discus on Thursday, placed 18th in the shpt put with a toss of 13.12 meters.

Samantha Shea of St. John Fisher placed 13th overall in the 400-meter dash, recording a personal record time of 56.40 seconds. Teammate Ciarra Franz finished 19th overall in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.74 seconds.
