SUNY Geneseo Leads After Friday's action at the 2026 Empire 8 Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships

Nationally-ranked SUNY Geneseo leads after day one of the 2026 Empire 8 Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championship from the Polisseni Track and Field Complex on the campus of St. John Fisher University on Friday, May 1. Geneseo has 92 points, while Nazareth University is right behind in second with 79 points after eight of the 22 scored events.
 
The Knights won three events on Friday. Greylynn Guyer began the meet by taking the 3,000-meter steeplechase, hitting the line in a championship record time of 10:36.21, which moves her into the top-10 in all of Division III. She led a 1-2-3 Geneseo finish in the event, as 2025 E8 Champion Ann Brennan earned runner-up accolades. Nicole Gretzinger, won the 400-meter dash in a time of 56.68 seconds, as four Knigths finished in the top five in the event.
 
Nazareth’s Isabel Morse won the pole vault for the second time in her career, clearing 3.92 meters, which moves her into the top-10 nationally this season. She becomes the fifth straight Nazareth student-athlete to win the pole vault.

Fellow Golden Flyers standout Alaina Morley won the E8 long jump championship with a leap of 5.66 meters.

Utica junior Marlo Townsend set an Empire 8 Championship record by winning the 10,000-meters by just over 20 seconds in a time of 36:34.16. Former E8 Champion Noelle Linenfelser was the runner-up.

SUNY Geneseo’s 4 x 800-meter relay team of Dia Sweet, Kate Miller, Hannah Wierer, Dakota Limbert earned the victory by just under five seconds in a time of 9.31.16.
 
Anna Stead of St. John Fisher annexed the hammer throw with a toss of 48.92 meters. Sierra Myers of the host Cardinals won the javelin throw, firing it 35.07 meters. 
 
Mackenzie Kubat of SUNY Geneseo leads the heptathlon with 2,990 points with four of the seven events completed. She holds a commanding 607 point lead over Jade Bailey of Utica.
 
Day two action gets underway from St. John Fisher at 10 a.m.
