The Empire 8 Conference is pleased to announce the addition of SUNY Oswego as an affiliate member in the sport of men’s tennis effective with the 2024-25 academic year.

“We are excited to welcome SUNY Oswego to the Empire 8 men’s tennis lineup,” said Empire 8 Executive Director Chuck Mitrano. “The Lakers are a great fit in every way and we look forward to providing enhanced experiences for all men’s tennis student-athletes with this partnership.”

SUNY Oswego, located in Oswego, N.Y., was established in 1861 and is one of the best comprehensive universities in the country. Recognized for excellence and value, Oswego is known for its extraordinary faculty, its welcoming atmosphere, and its reputation for producing fiercely loyal alumni.

The men’s tennis program, coached by Tyler Glowaki, is currently 3-0 in dual matches during the 2023-24 season and plays a majority of its non-conference competition against Empire 8 institutions.

Oswego will become the fifth Empire 8 men’s tennis program in 2024-25, joining full-time members Alfred University, Houghton University, Nazareth University and St. John Fisher University.

“I would like to thank Executive Director Chuck Mitrano, and the Empire 8 President's Council for approving our application for men's tennis,” stated SUNY Oswego Assistant Vice President/Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Wendy McManus. “The Empire 8 has a 25-year tradition of improving the student-athlete experience while instilling the values of NCAA Division III athletics. The Lakers look forward to continuing that tradition starting in the 2024-25 season.”
