ALFRED, NY – Alfred University named
Jordan Crouch the Head Men's and Women's Tennis Coach following a national search and will officially take over on September 14.

"I had the opportunity to watch the women compete last Friday and was thrilled with what I saw. Not only did they compete until the very last ball, but they supported one another like a true team. The men's team was there in full force as well and I'm pretty sure could be heard from the Stull Observatory! Coach [Jake] Fisler did a great job and I'm excited to help this team continue to grow. Congrats to Coach [Bob] Cilino picking up his first win last weekend! I'm excited to work alongside him and learn how we can best serve this program and the athletes. Thanks to

Crouch was initially hired at Alfred University in 2018 and spent six seasons at the helm of both programs. On the women's side, he compiled a record of 37-43 and 18-21 in Empire 8 action. Both wins numbers are No. 2 all-time in AU history. In 2023, he led the Saxons to a 13-2 record overall and a 5-1 Empire 8 record, taking the team to the Empire 8 Championship Tournament and winning it all. The Saxons entered the tournament with a No. 2 seeding, defeating No. 3 Nazareth University, 5-4 before claiming the title with a 5-3 victory over No. 4 seeded St. John Fisher University. They competed in the NCAA Championship Tournament, heading out to Connecticut for the Regional Round and falling to University of Redlands, 5-0.
On the men's side, Crouch finished his first stay with AU with a total of 22 wins and eight Empire 8 victories. The Saxon men are coming off a school-record season, going 14-6 and 6-2 in Empire 8 action. They made it all the way to the Empire 8 Championship Title Match, narrowly missing the trophy claim, falling to No. 1 West seeded St. John Fisher University, 4-3.
Crouch also served as Alfred University's Life Skills Coordinator during his early years before the structure of AU Athletics evolved to include multiple areas of support for its student-athletes, including the L.E.A.D. and Saxon Success programs.

Crouch first came to AU following a four-year tennis career at Houghton College (now Houghton University), a fellow member of the Empire 8 Conference. He was a three-time Empire All-Conference honoree, earning Second Team honors in singles and doubles in 2017-18 as well as Second Team singles in 2016-17. During his senior campaign he posted a 9-3 overall singles record, including a 7-1 record in Empire 8 play, helping the Highlanders to the Empire 8 Championship match for the first time in program history. He added to his win total, going 9-4 in doubles play during his senior year.
On top of playing tennis at Houghton, Crouch has served as a tennis coach since the summer of 2013. He served as the Director of the Houghton College Tennis Camp where he organized lesson plans and daily schedules while recruiting campers to participate in local events.
Prior to his position at the top of the Houghton College Tennis Camp, Crouch was a Tennis Specialist at Southwoods' Summer Children's Camp where he oversaw 10-15 students with varying levels of abilities. Prior to that assignment, he spent three summers as a Tennis Coach at the Houghton College Tennis Camp where he coached 10-15 players, organizing skill routines as well as providing in-depth feedback.
Crouch also served as a Private Tennis Instructor during the summer of 2014 while helping as a Camp Coach at the Houghton College Basketball Camp. His other experiences include High School Basketball Official, New York State Life Guard and Swim Instructor.
While at Houghton, Crouch played four years of men's tennis, two years of men's basketball and one year of men's soccer. He graduated from Houghton in 2018 with a degree in Sport Recreation and Wellness with a minor in Coach and Sports Ministry. While at Alfred University, Crouch earned his Master of Business Administration.
The Saxon tennis programs said farewell to
Jake Fisler as he accepted a position with Rochester Institute of Technology in August.
Bob Cilino '13 stepped into the Interim Head Coach role, adding to his responsibilities as Alfred University's Head Men's and Women's Alpine Skiing Coach. Coach Cilino picked up his first tennis victory when the Saxon women traveled out to Utica University and earned a 7-0 Empire 8 win on Saturday, September 5.
