SWARTHMORE, PA -- Houghton men's tennis will get a challenging match right from the start as they take on No. 20 North Carolina Wesleyan in the first round of the NCAA Division III National Tournament on Friday. The match is set for 10 a.m. at Swarthmore College outside Philadelphia, Pa.

Houghton (9-4 overall) is making its third appearance at the tournament in the past four years after capturing the Empire 8 title last weekend. North Carolina Wesleyan (16-8) are the champions of the USA South Athletic Conference and are in the NCAA Tournament for the 15th time. The winner will take on the hosts Swarthmore (21-1), currently ranked No. 8 in the nation. That second round match is set for Saturday at 10 a.m.
Friday's other match features Christopher Newport vs. Baruch at 2 p.m. The winner will take on No. 6 Tufts on Saturday at 2 p.m. The opening weekend concludes with a final match at noon on Sunday with the winner advancing to the NCAA quarterfinals May 21.
The Highlanders enter the tournament on an 8-match win streak.
