Empire 8 Announces 2025 Men’s Tennis All-Conference Selections

League Champion SUNY Oswego was well represented, as junior Tony Marcano, first-year Miguel Garcia and head coach Tyler Glowaki earned Coach of the Year honors, as the league announced its 2025 Men’s Tennis All-Conference awards on Monday, May 12. The Nazareth University doubles team duo of Griffin Bond and Max Funiciello earned the league’s inaugural Doubles Team of the Year Award. The awards are voted on by the league's head coaches.
 
The league split into an East and a West Division in 2025, with a first and second singles and doubles team for each division. Norwich University and Thomas College each had three first team selections to lead the East Division, while Oswego had four first team selections and Nazareth, three to pace the West Division. Griffin Bond of Nazareth and Tyler Hernandez of St. John Fisher garnered All-E8 first team singles honors for the second straight season.

Marcano, who starred at first singles for the E8 Champion Lakers, finished 8-3 at first singles, while partnering with Matthew Mannara to finish 10-2 at first doubles for the Lakers. Marcano, a native of Victor, NY, saved his best for the Empire 8 Championship Tournamenr, winning all three singles matches and with Mannara, all three doubles matches to lead Oswego to the league crown.
 
The team of Bond and Funiciello went 7-1 at first doubles in league play and finished 12-7 overall in 2024-25. The duo rattled off a pair of four-match winning streaks during the spring season to earn the E8 honor.
 
Garcia, a native of East Hampton, NY, finished 10-1 in singles play and won four more doubles matches to claim E8 Rookie of the Year honors. He finished 1-0 at fourth singles, 5-1 at fift singles and 4-0 at sixth singles, while playing at third doubles for the E8 Champion Lakers.  He won three doubles matches and a pair of singles matches for the Lakers in the Empire 8 Tournament.
 
Glowaki was named 2025 Empire 8 Coach of the Year after leading Oswego to its first Empire 8 Championship in its first season as a league member. The Lakers went 7-1 overall in league play and rolled to the league title with wins over Houghton University, Thomas College, and 5-1 victory over Nazareth in the 2025 E8 Tournament. Five Oswego student-athletes earned All-Empire 8 accolades in 2025.
 
One member of each team was named that institution's representative on the 2025 Empire 8 Men’s Tennis Sportsman of the Year Team. The Empire 8 Conference emphasizes that “Competing with Honor and Integrity” is an essential component of a student-athlete's experience in conjunction with an institution's educational mission. These honorees have distinguished themselves and consistently exhibit the critical traits as outstanding sportsmen.
