WEBSTER, NY – The SUNY Geneseo 200-yard medley relay team set a championship meet and overall  Empire 8 record on day two of the 2025 Empire 8 Men’s Swimming and Diving Championship, held the Webster Aquatic Center on Thursday, February 20.

The nationally-ranked Knights have 550 team points to hold the lead Hartwick College, who has 283 points after Thursday’s action. SUNY Brockport moved into third place with 272 points, while Alfred University has 265 and Nazareth, who has 92 points.

The night started in hotly contested fashion, as Geneseo’s Dylan Gallub rallied in the final strokes to defeat Alfred’s Andre Ayala by the closest of margins, one, one-hundredth of a second to win the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:41.76. It was Gallub’s second straight E8 title in the event.

Geneseo junior Jack Keene won the 100-yard butterfly by 23 one-hundredths of a second over teammate Brian Pabisch in a time of 49.43 seconds. That finish was reversed from last year’s championship, when Pabisch out-kicked Keane for the title.

Alfred sophomore Carlos Gonzalez rolled to victory in the 400-yard individual medley, winning by just over three seconds over last season’s champion, Connor Baird of Geneseo in 3:59.51. Baird earned the title over Gonzalez in 2025.

Geneseo’s 200-yard freestyle relay team of Brian Pabisch, Jake Nielsen, Peter Peyser and Dylan Gallub earned the win by four seconds in a time of 1:21.62.
