Norwich University is set to host SUNY Delhi in the opening round of the 2026 Empire 8 Men’s Tennis Tournament at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 25 from Shapiro Field House. Norwich is the No. 2 seed in the Empire 8’s East Division, while SUNY Delhi is the No. 3 seed. The winner will advance to the Empire 8 Semifinal against St. John Fisher, the No. 1 seed in the West Division at Thomas College on Friday, May 1.
Thomas College is the No. 1 seed in the East Division and will host the 2026 Empire 8 Semifinals and championship on May 1-2. Thomas will host the winner of the West Division First Round match, which is scheduled for Tuesday, April 28. St. John Fisher University has wrapped up the top-seed in the West Division, while Alfred University has clinched a postseason berth and will take on either SUNY Oswego or Houghton University on April 28. The West second and third seeds will be determined after the regular season finale on April 25.
SUNY Oswego is the defending Empire 8 Champion.
The two semifinal winners will meet for the 2026 Empire 8 Championship on Saturday, May 2 at Thomas. The Empire 8 Champion will receive an automatic berth into the 2026 NCAA Men’s Tennis Championship, which begins on Friday, May 8.
Saturday, April 25 (First Round at Norwich University)
East No. 3 SUNY Delhi at East No. 2 Norwich University – 11 a.m.
Format: Dual match is played until decision (4 points) Three doubles matches (1 point for doubles, see below) are followed by six singles matches. No-ad scoring for both singles and doubles matches. Singles matches will play two out of three sets. Doubles play eight pro set with a twelve-point tiebreaker at 7-all.
Norwich enters the tournament with a 12-3 overall record and 4-1 mark in E8 East Division play. Terrance Bayly-Henshaw is 10-2 on the season at second singles and has teamed with Jaxson Redmond to record an 8-3 mark at first doubles. Redmond is also 8-3 at first singles. Stephen Hartigan and Juan Gonzalez Torres have also been key contributors for Norwich throughout the season. The Cadets advanced to the Empire 8 Semifinals last season.
SUNY Delhi finished 3-2 in E8 East Division play to garner the No. 3 seed and have seven total wins in 2025-26. The Broncos enter Saturday’s E8 Tournament contest riding a three-match winning streak. Junior Devin Guerreri and first-year standout Luke Moloney have seven singles wins apiece. Moloney led the Broncos with a 4-1 mark in conference play primarily at fifth singles.
Norwich defeated Delhi earlier in the regular season by consecutive scores of 4-3 in Delhi, NY, on April 4. Redmond, Bayly-Henshaw and Pierce Rohm earned singles wins in the league match, while Norwich earned the doubles point. Nicholas VanHouten, Guerreri, and Moloney picked up singles points for Delhi.
Norwich defeated Delhi in the 2025 E8 First Round match by a score of 8-1.
