2026 Empire 8 Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championship to Take Place May 1-2 at St. John Fisher

Alfred University, SUNY Brockport, SUNY Geneseo, Hartwick College, Houghton University, Nazareth University, Russell Sage College, St. John Fisher University and Utica University will compete at the 2026 Empire 8 Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Friday, May 1 and Saturday, May 2 at the Polisseni Track and Field Complex on the campus of St. John Fisher. Action begins at 1:30 p.m. Friday and continues at 10 a.m. Saturday. SUNY Geneseo will look to repeat as Empire 8 Champions. The Knights emerged victorious at the 2026 E8 Indoor Championships in February.

2026 Empire 8 Team Capsules (Order Based on 2025 Championship Finish)
 
SUNY Geneseo, the defending Empire 8 Champions enter the weekend ranked 25th nationally in the latest USTFCCCA Rating Index. The Knights have a student-athlete atop the E8 leaderboard in 10 different events currently and have a host of performances in the top 30 nationally to date this season. have re-written the Empire 8 record book this spring with nine new marks set. Jillian Ambler, who was the 2025 E8 Championship Field Athlete of the Meet, is the defending league champion in the 100-meter hurdles and long jump. She is currently ranked tenth nationally in the 100-meter hurdles. Sierra Doody is the defending league champion in the 1,500-meters and is currently ranked sixth nationally in the 800-meters (2:09.34) and holds the league record in that event. Ari Reback, Ann Brennan, Greylyn Guyer, Annika Hurley and Kaitlyn Hotaling lead an incredibly deep group of Geneseo distance runners. Brennan is ranked eighth nationally in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and is the defending E8 Champion in the event, while Reback is currently 13th nationally in the 10,000-meters. Lindsay Tellez is a top contender in the sprint events, while Dakota Limbert and Nicole Gretzinger former a powerful trip with Doody in the 800-meters. Sophia Barcley and Stella Riley are the top two E8 leaders in the 400-meter hurdles. Geneseo’s 4 x 100- and 4 x 400-meter relay teams are always in contention for national recognition. On the field side, Mackenzie Kubat is the current E8 leader and ranked inside the top 35 nationally in the long jump. Kayla Anastasia is ranked second in the long jump, while Marissa Mazzacco is also a contender in both the triple and long jump events. Heptathlon Championship. Payton Mehalick is the defending E8 Champion in the shot put, while Lauren Jaklitsch, Mckenzie Zafuto and Ashley Tubbs will look to excel in the throws. Kubat will also look to medal in the heptathlon.
 
Last year’s E8 runner-up SUNY Brockport will contend for the E8 title in 2026. Lexi Rodriguez is the defending Empire 8 Champion in the 400-meter hurdles and enters the weekend ranked third in the league this season.
Sophomore Ethne Degan is ranked inside the top 50 in the 1,500-meters, while she is also ranked fourth in the league in the 800-meter run. Brockport is also the defending Empire 8 Champion in the 4 x 800-meter relay. Salma Moumen and Hailey Morrison will contend for podium finishes in the long-distance events. Isabel Swyers enters the championship looking to win the pole vault crown, as she is currently 34th nationally in the event with a leap of 3.65 meters. Sasha Schramm will contend for medals in the high jump, long jump, and triple jump. She enters second in the league in the long jump at 5.49 meters. Trinity Dees leads a deep group of throwers. She is ranked second in the shot put among E8 student-athletes, while MeKenna Uhl is fourth in the discus. Bella Rivera, Rhian Crowley and Madison Kirkpatrick will also look to earn key points in the throws. Leann Clay and Tessa Patchen will look to excel in the heptathlon.
 
Host institution St. John Fisher, the 2021 and 2022 Empire 8 Outdoor Track and Field Championship, has a host of student-athletes set to contend in several events. Anna Stead is the current E8 leader and is ranked 32nd in the hammer throw with a toss of 50.82 meters. In sprint events, Emily Heiner, Juliana Riemersma, Abigail Dorunda and Makenna Manson, are poised to earn top finishes. Caitlin Voloshen and Brianne Hurlburt will contend in the middle-distance event. As always, St. John Fisher’s relay teams will compete for league titles. Fisher’s 4 x 100-meter relay enters with the top time in the league this season. On the field side, Mary Claire Rollins is ranked second in the high jump, while Makenna Keough, the 2025-26 E8 Indoor Track and Field Rookie of the Year enters tied for first in the triple jump and fourth in the long jump. Hailee Garcia is ranked second in the discus, while. Sierra Myers and Jacqueline Williams will also look to contend for the top spot in the javelin and Caelyn Eiser is ranked fifth in the league entering the weekend in the heptathlon. Kathryn Hillard will contend for medals in both the high jump and pole vault and Jazelle McIntyre will form a formidable duo with Steed in the hammer.
 
Nazareth is looking to earn its third straight E8 outdoor crown in four years. Seniors Isabel Morse (2023), Rosie Morse (2024) and Kiara Tornusciolo (2025) are all former Empire 8 Champions in the pole vault. Isabel Morse is currently ranked 14th nationally in the event with a vault of 3.85 meters, while Rosie Morse is 34th nationally at 3.65 meters. Samantha Luba was the 2024 Empire 8 Champion in the 100-meter hurdles and enters the weekend ranked 29th nationally in the event. Senior Ella Impaglia has the 30th best time to date in Division III in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, while Bailey Visinguard will also look to earn points in the event. Impaglia will also contend for the E8 crown in the 1,500-meters. Sprinters Alaina Morley and Alexis Lasher will look to earn valuable points in the 100- and 200-meters, while Amber Hayes will contend in both hurdles. Madyson Bush, Sydney LaSalle and Luba enter has a strong trio in the triple jump; all ranked inside the top five in the conference this season. Emily Rollnice will also contend in the shot put, while Abbey Conquest is a contender in the javelin throw.
 
Utica is looking to claim its second E8 title this weekend, having also won in 2018. Sophomore Allie Cary is enjoying a breakout spring for the Pioneers, as she is ranked seventh in Division III in both the shot put (13.91 meters) and discus (46.59 meters). Sophomore sprinter Shiann Williams enters as the E8 leader in the 400-meters and is a strong contender in the 100- and 200-meters as well. Arianna McClendon is also a contender to medal in both the 200- and 400-meters and recently set the Utica record in the 800-meters. Marlo Townsend and Catherine Manna will represent the Pioneers in distance events. Townsend enters the weekend in the top five in the conference in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, 5,000- and 10,000-meters.  Utica’s relays teams will also compete for league titles. Olivia Jensen will look to medal in the 100-meter hurdles, while Lacey Simmons enters with a top five time in the league in the 400-hurdles. Hannah Allison was the 2024 E8 Champion in the high jump and is currently first in the league heading into the weekend. Stefania Grimaldi is the defending E8 Champion in the heptathlon, while Jade Bailey is the current E8 leader in the event. Grimaldi also enters the weekend first among all E8 student-athletes in the javelin.
 
Houghton will look to climb the team leaderboard in 2026. Sophomore Alexa Belanger, a 2025 NCAA All-American and E8 outdoor champion in the high jump, enters the meet with the second-best high jump this spring in the league. Senior Noelle Linenfelser is a contender in the 10,000-meter events and was the 2024 E8 Champion in the 5,000-meters, while Emberlynn Nolt and Aria Nelson will look to earn key points in both the 5,000- and 10,000-meter events. Jenna Binney will represent Houghton in the middle-distance events, while Jenna Fischer will look to compete in a handful of throwing events, alongside Maggie Ahlmeter and Grace Neeley.
 
Alfred enters the 2025 Empire 8 Championship looking to improve off a seventh-place finish in 2025. Natalya Rickman and Meridian Bremel will look to medal in various throwing events. Bremel enters the weekend with the third best performance to date among E8 student-athletes in the discus, while Rickman is sixth in the hammer. Bri Dorr will also look to excel in the shot put. Zoe Rainville will represent the Saxons in the sprint events.
 
Hartwick will look to improve on last season’s eighth place finish. Senior Brynita Haas and sophomore Julia Weinschreider will represent in the long-distance events. Haas enters the meet ranked fifth in the 10,000-meters. Xiomara Aristide is set to compete in the shot put, while the Hartwick relay teams will vie for points.
 
Russell Sage will look to continue to make strides as a track and field program. Alexius Smith will look to compete in the high jump, as she enters the meet ranked eighth in the high jump among E8 student-athletes. Catherine Newkirk will look to compete in the 100-meter hurdles, while Savannah Smith is set to compete in the discus.
