Seven All-Americans Crowned on Friday at 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships

Seven Empire 8 student-athletes earned All-American honors on day two of the 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Friday, May 22 at Veteran's Memorial Field Sports Complex in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
 
SUNY Brockport senior Gabe Giannini set an Empire 8 record in the decathlon, finishing sixth overall with 6,797 points to earn First Team All-American accolades. Giannini, who was the leader after day one, was the top finisher in the pole vault on Friday, clearing 4.65 meters. On Thursday, he was second in both the 100-meters and long jump, shattering his own E8 record set last month by over 100 points.
 
Mackenzie Kubat of SUNY Geneseo and Samantha Luba of Nazareth earned All-American honors in the heptathlon Friday. Kubat placed seventh overall with 4,847 points to earn First Team honors, while Luba tallied 4,677 points, earning Second Team accolades with her 15th place finish. Utica’s Allie Cary earned Second Team All-American accolades for the second straight day, this time in the shot put.
 
The SUNY Geneseo duo of Pierce Young and Emerson Comer placed seventh and eighth, respectively, in the 3,000-meter steeplechase final to garner First Team All-American honors. Young crossed the finish line in 9:00.10, while Comer was nearly a second back in 9:01.09.
 
Nazareth sophomore Graeden Heichberger placed eighth overall in the shot put to garner his first First Team All-American accolade. He recorded a toss of 16.89 meters in the prelims to qualify for the finals in the ninth spot. In the finals, Heichberger fired the hammer 17.43 meters on his fifth overall attempt to move into the top-eight and secure the first team accolade.
 
For the second straight day, SUNY Geneseo standout Ryan Hagan won a preliminary heat, this time in the 800-meters, crossing the finish line fastest of all in 1:49.36. He will attempt earn two national titles on Saturday, first in the 1,500-meters at 2:35 p.m. and just 85 minutes later, compete in the 800-meter final.
 
Jacob Miller of Geneseo placed fourth in the prelims of the 400-meters, while Dakota Limbert of the Knights qualified for the finals of the 800-meter run.
 
Limbert is the lone E8 female athlete to be competing on Saturday, while seven different men’s individuals or relay teams from Geneseo and St. John Fisher University are set to compete.
