GREENSBORO, N.C. – On Friday afternoon, senior Kyle Rollins became the first two-time National Champion in St. John Fisher College history as he held on to reign victorious in the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field High Jump National Championship at the Irwin Belk Track on the campus of North Carolina A&T State University.
Rollins, who has now won the high jump national title in consecutive outdoor seasons, is the fifth individual national champion and fourth from the track & field team in Fisher's history. He is also the only individual to win more than one national title and do it in consecutive seasons.

The clear-cut favorite in this year's event, Rollins earned his first high jump title in the 2019 outdoor season – the last NCAA DIII National Championship that occurred – after he cleared 2.12 meters.
Rollins was the only athlete to pass on both 1.92 meters and 1.97 meters, before trying his hand at the next height, 2.02 meters. At that height and the following, 2.05 meters, he needed two attempts each to move on.
He then became one of the final two competitors by clearing 2.08 meters on his first attempt and moved on to take the lead as he needed only one go to clear 2.11 meters with ease.
The Groveland native's final competitor grabbed two career-best heights, one at 2.08 meters and another on his final attempt at 2.11 meters, to force a winner-take-all at a height of 2.14 meters. After three attempts each, neither athlete was able to surpass the mark of 7 feet, awarding Rollins the gold as he bested 2.11 meters (6 foot, 11 inches) in just one attempt.
Rollins has now been named an All-American for the seventh time in his career with the finish, as he looks to make it eight times tomorrow when he competes for the triple jump national championship, where he is seeded second, at 10:30 A.M.
