Below are the Empire 8 Players of the Week, released on May 11, 2026, for games played from May 4 – May 10, 2026. It is the 37th Empire 8 weekly honors release of the 2025-26 season. Sports featured include men’s and women’s outdoor track and field.

MEN’S OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD
TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Tim Smith, SUNY Brockport, Jr., Middle Distance, Vestal, NY/Vestal
Smith finished second in his heat and third overall out of 70 runners in a highly competitive 800-meter run at the Farley Inter Regional hosted by Williams College over the weekend. Smith clocked a time of 1:51.37 which moved him into 26th nationally in the event. It is Smith’s second E8 weekly honor of the season.
 
FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Sekou Camara, Alfred, So., Jumps, Conakry, Guinea/ICSA
Camara won the high jump at the Ithaca College In-Between Meet on Saturday. He cleared 1.96 meters (6’-5”) on his third attempt to clinch the win. He was 0.01 meter away from his personal best, set at the Empire 8 Championships the previous weekend. Camara has now won the high jump event for the third meet in a row. 
 
WOMEN’S OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD
TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Abigail Dorunda, St. John Fisher, So., Sprints, Westfield, MA/Wilbraham and Monson Academy
Dorunda won the 100-meter run with a time of 12.29 seconds and placed second in the 200-meter run with a time of 25.41 seconds, the third-best 200 time in program history at the Ithaca In Between Meet on Saturday. It is her second consecutive Empire 8 weekly honor.
 
FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Samantha Luba, Nazareth, Sr., Multi-Events, Buffalo, NY/Frontier
Luba shattered Nazareth’s program record in the heptathlon at the Farley Inter Regional hosted by Williams College on Friday and Saturday, collecting 4,529 points. She had personal bests in the javelin throw at 23.74 meters (77' 11"), the 200 (26.16), and the high jump at 1.53 meters (5' 0.25"). The mark puts her 26th in the country for the heptathlon. Luba's top finishes were second place in the both the long jump and the 100-meter hurdles. She jumped 5.30 meters (17' 4.75") in the long jump and clocked a time of 14.76 in the 100-hurdles.
